I am happily married (for 35 years) and live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where I’ve lived for the past 18 years. I have one wonderful son who lives and works in Albany, New York with his wife Chrissie. I also have a stepdaughter, two stepsons, and three grandchildren who all in live in Tennessee.
I grew up in Johnstown, New York, a very small town in the upstate. In 1977, I moved to Palmdale, California, which was at that time a small town of about 12,000 people located in the Southern California (the High Desert close to Edwards Air Force Base). During the time we lived there, I worked for the School District in the Special Ed department at the high school level and also in the PE department at grade school level. I also ran the office for my husband’s business. He is a general contractor and was always very busy. Prior to him opening his own business, we made a killer truck driving team and traveled from coast to coast delivering any sort of liquid you can imagine. Another story, another time!
The population grew to around 72,000 and the economy was on a downhill slide in 1991 when we moved on to our present location.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where I was still in pursuit of “When I grow up I want to be ?”. The only reasonable option seemed to be “beach bum” where I could enjoy the ocean, the fresh salt-air, and live happily ever after. It was great for a few months, but I did grow bored and needed something else. “Working for the man” was strictly out of the question with the wages so low in this neck of the woods. So as “luck” (I don’t believe in luck per say) would have it, I was in the right place at the right time and met the right person and became self-employed. I learned medical transcription and continued to sub-contract for several years at which point I knew it was time to make a move from the sub-contractor to my own business. I have to say, I’ve never looked back, never regretted a single thing, except being self-employed does not necessarily mean having all the freedom in the world. There are still deadlines to meet, though they are self-imposed, if I don’t meet them I just get further behind. I do have the luxury of working at home, in my pajamas, whenever I want. The biggest obstacle is finding reliable help locally as not all of my accounts are using digital, so it does mean some travel time.
Then along come eBay, I spent a lot of time surfing, learning, and buying before deciding to start selling. I LOVED it. I sell under a couple of different ID’s, but started out in the physical product world of selling, did a lot of dropshipping, and achieved Power Seller status in no time. The only problem was my available time to work on eBay varied depending on how busy my other business was, and shopping, sorting, taking pictures, listing, is by any sense of the word a time consuming task. I was constantly searching, learning, and decided to move into the Information Product world. This was just before eBay made all their big changes and discontinued Digital Downloads of any kind. Like everyone seemed to be, I was upset at first, but decided to go with the flow and capitalize on this new change and continue to offer information products in the physical form. eBay is by far the busiest auction site available with a constant flow of targeted traffic that is looking for something to buy. After watching some of the other powersellers and seeing how they did things, this is a very fast, easy and cheap way of getting targeted leads, and building your list.
That brings me to the present and into the world of internet marketing. I will continue to learn by reading the wonderful eBooks, watching the tutorial videos, and continue to grow my business.
I discovered a long time ago that the word “Impossible” doesn’t belong in anyone’s vocabulary and it is nonexistent in mine. Another word that I had thought little about was recently brought to my attention and that is “But”. I am making a very conscious effort to remove that tiny little word from my vocabulary. I already know that anything is achievable if only you believe it is and work in diligence towards that goal.
Know also that the claims of “Easy Money” are something to run from. There is no such thing as “easy”. In the beginning it takes a lot of belief in yourself, lots of hard, time consuming work, and a patience before you will actually be making “easy money”. It is easily achievable, but only if you are willing to put forth the effort and time involved coupled with a strong belief that “Yes, I can”.
My #1 Like: Waking up every morning and knowing I am “the boss”.
